ROBERT STANLEY MARTIN

In November 2020, my dear Dad, Robert Stanley Martin, passed away at the age of 89. When he left this world his smile and physical voice went with it. So, in an effort to remember all he was to me and those who love him “The Robert Stanley Martin Memorial Scholarship For The Advancement Of The Love Of Music” was born. My Dad was an avid singer and lover of Music. He was always so invested in the stories I would tell him about my student’s wins and challenges. As an accomplished Baritone himself, when a student was struggling with life and still going after their craft he would often encourage me to encourage them, “Sweetheart, never let them lose their love of Music!” Dad’s reasoning was that my student’s love of Music was present before they had started lessons, auditioned for choir, participated in that competition, or joined that band. I can still hear Dad telling me, “You must ensure your students are always advancing their love of Music so they don’t lose their passion! The love of Music is a God given gift and we must nurture it as singers or it fades in the rush and stress of life. We must work hard to not lose it!” So, now, every year on the 30th July (Dad’s Birthday) one member of the existing student body is named as that year’s recipient of the “Love Of Music” scholarship. The Student receives 26 fortnightly or 13 weekly 55 minute Vocal Arts Education sessions with me to encourage them to advance their love of Music.
